The art program at MSIS encourages the building of skills introduced in the 3-5 curriculum. Through a variety of media, students are able to pursue multiple pathways to learning and self-expression.

The New York State standards are an integral part of each lesson presented in the art room. Through our interdisciplinary program, students explore the elements of art (line, shape, color, form and texture) in conjunction with exposure to master artists, literature and cultures.

Character education is emphasized as students work cooperatively on group projects and participate in school decorations and contests. Additionally, visiting artists and museum field trips serve to broaden the students' understanding and appreciation of the art.
