Commack PTA Council

What is PTA Council?

PTA Council is comprised of members from each of Commack's nine PTA units, as well as having its own executive board and committees.  Council facilitates communication between the PTA and the school district.  Members attend monthly meetings, sharing information, ideas, and concerns with each other and administration.  We provide support to the local units, and provide leadership training through workshops and county sponsored PTA events. Council hosts the annual Founder's Day Dinner that is held in February, and also hosts roundtable meetings with the Superintendent of Schools, Board of Education members, and the Council President.  The Commack PTA Council also provides scholarships to graduating seniors, and coordinates the many PTA  committees in the District.
New!! If you would like to receive updates from us, please join the Commack PTA Council MemberHub for up to date district information.

Please support your school's PTA by becoming a member.  Children benefit greatly through parental involvement in the schools, and so does our community.  You can make a difference!  PTA is committed to advocating for our children and strengthening the ties between home and school, and it starts with membership in your school's PTA and SEPTA.

Founders Day Announcement and Dinner Invitation
Each February, PTAs throughout the United States commemorate the day when the PTA idea took on the force and vitality of a nationwide movement. In 1897, Alice McClellan Birney and Phoebe Apperson Hearst called together some 2,000 persons to “discuss questions most vital to the welfare of the children…” That meeting, held in Washington, D.C., brought into being a national organization dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in the home, school and community.

Not only does our annual Founders Day Celebration help us honor our PTA founders, but it also affords the Commack PTA Units and Council the opportunity to honor members of our community for their dedication to our children by presenting them with State PTA awards.

We hope you will join us in honoring these well deserving individuals.
