Commack Schools –Three Hours Early Dismissal Today

We will be dismissing students three hours earlier today, March 21, 2018 for the safety of our students and staff.

That means that buses will arrive at bus stops approximately three hours earlier than usual. Given the fact that we will ask our drivers to proceed with caution, please allow for some extra time but generally speaking buses should arrive about three hours earlier than usual. This also means that SCOPE and all after-school and evening activities are cancelled as well.  Please understand this three hour early dismissal is intended to allow us time to get students, staff, and bus drivers off the roads before the storm intensifies.

Family STEAM Day – March 24, 2018
Commack School District's Fine Arts, Mathematics and Science Departments are once again teaming up to hold our Second Annual Family STEAM Day - for students in grades 3-6 on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Commack Middle School. This fun filled day will begin at 9 am and run through 1 pm. Family STEAM Day is not a drop-off event - all children must be accompanied by a parent. Due to this necessity, we strongly encourage you to either register siblings for the same workshops at the same time or be sure that multiple adults attend the event with the children.
The event will be a great opportunity for students and their families to learn about the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, The Arts and Mathematics through engaging hands-on, discovery-based activities. The goal is to provide a showcase for students to show them what STEAM is all about.
Some of your favorite teachers will be leading these exciting workshops and the New York Hall of Science will have interactive stations in the gym! In total each child will have three 50 minute sessions. One will be to experience all the great displays and activities set up by the NY Hall of Science and the remaining two will be workshops that the student will select.
All workshops will run concurrently. Each child is asked to make two choices for each of the two sessions. We will attempt to provide each child with their first choices but please understand that each of the workshops have limited seating and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
