MICHEL NADEAU is a music educator, clinician, and published author. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester and a Master’s degree in Music Education from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. His performing credits include performing as a euphonium soloist with the Eastman Wind Ensemble on the “Quiet City” compact disc. He has also performed with the Eastman Trombone Choir, the Eastman Jazz Lab Band, and marched and played euphonium in the Macy’s and Tournament of Roses parades with the 1983 McDonald’s All-American High School Band.
Mr. Nadeau has been teaching elementary band in the Commack Public Schools in Commack, New York, since 1988. Mr. Nadeau directs the beginner band, the 5thgrade concert band and the jazz ensemble at Burr Intermediate School. In 2006, his 5th grade band was one of only five bands in New York State to score the highest possible rating of “Gold with Distinction” for level I at the NYSSMA Major Organization Festival while rehearsing only once per week. In 2007, Mr. Nadeau authored and self-published the newly released Band Brilliance Beginner Band Method with over 6000 books sold. In 2013, Mr. Nadeau released Band Brilliance Intermediate Band and Instrumental Method.
Mr. Nadeau studied conducting with Donald Hunsberger, David Effron and Lawrence Eisman. Mr. Nadeau’s conducting credits include conducting many musicals including “42nd Street”, “Hello, Dolly!”, “Sweet Charity”, and “Godspell” with the Commack Masque and Wig Company. He also conducted “West Side Story” and the world premiere of “A Touch of Kindness” for the Take One Theatre Arts Company in St. James, New York. Mr. Nadeau has also guest conducted the 2006 Nassau Music Educators’ Association Division I All-County Band and the 2009 Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association Division III All-County Band, the 2014 Division I East All-County Band for Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association, and the 2014 Division II All-County Jazz Ensemble for Nassau Music Educators’ Association.
Mr. Nadeau has been a guest clinician for NYSCAME/Suffolk’s professional development program. Mr. Nadeau is the founder and director of the Suffolk County Elementary Band Directors’ Symposium and the co-founder of the Superintendents Conference Day Music Symposium and director of its band division. https://www.linkedin.com/in/michelnadeauband
