The students will be working in Reading Workshop this year. Each workshop begins with a mini lesson, followed by independent reading time, with “just right” books, and then partnership time. Students are met in conferences during Reading Workshop on an individual basis and with their partners. Guided reading groups and strategy groups also take place during this time. The ongoing structure of the workshop establishes an environment in which students learn to read. Teachers are able to assess what the students can do, and subsequently teach them to grow as readers.
