Elementary Homework
Elementary homework will be sent home in your child's folder/notebook when assigned by the teacher. Please check this folder/notebook daily.
Please review and sign your
child's Agenda daily and please sign all homework.
Here are a few tips to encourage a positive environment for success:
Remove distractions- Choose a quiet place for your
child to work.
Establish a routine- Set a specific homework time such as right after dinner. Require that
homework must be completed before your child can watch TV, use the computer,
etc.
Prioritize- Encourage your child to work on the most challenging assignments
first. Then complete the others. Use the Agenda to check-off assignments
as your child completes them.
Check understanding- Be sure to read all directions
to your child so he/she is aware and understands the task.
Guide and monitor, then correct- If
your child needs help, offer ideas that can help sort out the problem. Review
the assignment with your child and help to correct mistakes.
Get organized for tomorrow- Remind your child to pack
his/her backpack before going to bed. Make sure all homework is placed in
folder.
Let the teacher know- Homework is a review of concepts
and skills taught daily. If your child is having difficulty completing
assignments or is struggling with concepts, please let me know
