Important Classroom Policies

If your child is late or absent, please send in a note that includes the date, reason for absence or lateness and your signature.  Your child is responsible to make up any work that is missed. You may call the main office and request the work, if your child is feeling up to completing it that day.

Students are required to read at home for at least 20 minutes a night. In class, the students will have time each day to read. They can bring in a book from home or borrow one from our classroom library. They will be required to complete a reading assignment each month on one of the books of their choice. Try to encourage your child to read books from a variety of genres. I will go over a genre each month, so they become familiar with the different genres. Please let me know if you need help selecting reading materials for your child.

Book Clubs

Each month your child will have an opportunity to order from Scholastic book clubs.  These clubs offer a variety of books at reduced prices. Order forms will be given out in Tuesday Folders and will have a due date on them.  Purchases MUST be made on-line. The website is Our class code is H2D3XDo not feel obligated to purchase books.

Students will be given a spelling and basic math facts quiz weekly. Tests in other subjects such as Social Studies, Math, Science, and Reading may be given periodically. The children will know in advance and will be told exactly what to review for it.  At this point, children are just developing study skills and may need your support at home.

We will celebrate your child’s birthday in class with a certificate and we will sing to them. Please DO NOT send anything in with your child, as we CANNOT distribute them in class.

Your child must go on his or her bus at the end of the day, unless he or she is a walker, goes to SCOPE,  or has a note.

I look forward to a fun and exciting year with your child!!!
