Arrival and Departure Procedures 2020 - 2021

Walker Arrival Procedures
  • The bus loop in front of the school building is reserved for school buses only.
  • The Drop-off Area is for children who are discharged from a car to walk into school.
    • All students must be wearing a mask when they exit the car.
    • The Burr drop-off is located on the east side of the building, near the school cafeterias.
    • Children should exit their vehicles between 9:00 a.m. and 9:25 a.m.
    • If at all possible, please arrive from the West (Larkfield) side of the property and exit towards the East (Townline) side.
      • This will make for a significantly faster and safer experience for everyone.

In order to help manage the flow of traffic on Burr Road, we ask families to drop off during the following times:
  • Last name A – G        9:00
  • Last name H – Q        9:10
  • Last name R – Z         9:20

The Drop-off Area accommodates 6 - 8 cars at one time. Each car should follow the traffic flow of the Drop-off Area and parking lot.
Please do not turn left after dropping your child off in the Drop-off Area.
There are cars entering the parking lot and we want to avoid an accident.
Please do not pull into the Handicapped Parking space to drop off your child.
These spots are designated for cars with handicapped stickers.
AT NO TIME SHOULD THE DRIVER EXIT THE CAR WHILE IN THE DROP-OFF AREA.
All children should exit on the RIGHT side of the vehicle and proceed to the sidewalk, where staff will direct them to the building entrance.

  • Students should maintain appropriate social distancing at all times as they wait to enter the building.
  • Students will enter via the cafeteria or 4th grade/bike rack doors and pass through the temperature scanner.
  • Staff members will be posted at each entrance to monitor students. If a student displays a temperature of 100.0 F or higher, the nurse will be contacted to follow up.

Bus/Van Arrival Procedures
  • Buses will be unloaded from 9:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. each day. Students will proceed to one of the designated doors. They will pass through a temperature scanner and proceed into the building.
  • Students will enter via the main entrance or 5th grade/box ball doors and pass through the temperature scanner.
  • Staff members will be posted at each entrance to monitor students. If a student displays a temperature of 100.0 F or higher, the nurse will be contacted.
  • Students should maintain appropriate social distancing at all times as they wait to enter the building.

Walker Pick Up Procedures
  • Parents and students should wear masks and practice social distancing throughout the dismissal process.
  • The front driveway is closed to cars and is reserved for school buses only.
  • Entrance to the parking lot will be restricted to one lane to protect pedestrian safety.
  • All walkers will exit through the cafeteria doors into the East side parking area near the bike rack.
  • Walkers will be dismissed by LAST NAME to accommodate siblings.
    • Last name A – E      2:50 – Main Doors/ Flagpole
    • Last name F – L       2:50 – Cafeteria Doors/Bike Rack
    • Last name M – R      3:00 – Main Doors/Flagpole
    • Last name S – Z       3:10 – Cafeteria Doors/Bike Rack
  • Parents should meet students on the grass in the designated area and immediately escort them to their car. Please utilize the sidewalks whenever possible. Please exit the property promptly once you have picked up your child.
  •  In the interest of maintaining a smooth dismissal process, any student being picked up for a “medical appointment” or leaving early for any other reason should be picked up no later than 2:30 p.m.
  • If there is a change in your child’s dismissal for the day, please send a written note to the classroom teacher in the morning and a pass will be issued by the school office.
