Helpful Hints to Improve Expressive Language Skills

• While looking at books or magazines name many of the objects.  Discuss similarities and differences acroos items.  Identify their categories and attributes.  I Spy books are a wonderful resource. 
• Label objects and occupations in the community.  Discuss their function and purpose.
• While playing games such as object bingo or Guess Who, give clues about the objects.  Describe them withough syaing the name of what it is.
• While reading a book, ask your child what the characters are doing.  Make sure they respond using the appropriate pronouns.
