PTA Founders Day is February 6
Commack PTA
48th Annual Founders Day Dinner
Thursday, February 6, 2020, 6:00 p.m.-10:00pm
Stonebridge Country Club
2000 Raynors Way, Smithtown, NY 11787
Each February, PTAs throughout the United States commemorate the day when the PTA idea took on the force and vitality of a nationwide movement. In 1897, Alice McClellan Birney and Phoebe Apperson Hearst called together some 2,000 persons to “discuss questions most vital to the welfare of the children…” That meeting, held in Washington, D.C., brought into being a national organization dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in the home, school and community.
Not only does our annual Founders Day Celebration help us honor our PTA founders, but it also affords the Commack PTA Units and Council the opportunity to honor members of our community for their dedication to our children by presenting them with NYS PTA awards.
We hope you will join us in honoring these well deserving individuals.
