Anti-Vaping/Smoking Task Force Formation

The Commack Public Schools are committed to educating and raising awareness about the dangers of e-cigarettes and similar vapor products.  The New York State Department of Health Commissioner stated, “The alarmingly high numbers of young people in New York State who are using vape products is nothing short of a public health crisis,” and Commack is not immune to this.  As part of the District’s ongoing efforts to protect our youth, the District is set to engage in a partnership with the community to shield students and quell this growing risk.

The District is seeking five (5) parents to engage with the District as parent-representatives on the District Anti-Vaping/Smoking Task Force.  Parents who are selected to serve on this task force will commit to attending 3-5 meetings per year, during the school day and in the evening.  The District is also seeking parent volunteers to participate in future Anti-Vaping/Smoking Focus Groups, which are reflective of the District’s practice to engage as many parent voices as possible.  Parents are welcome to express their interest in serving on the District’s Anti-Vaping/Smoking Task Force, or to participate in an Anti-Vaping/Smoking oriented focus group by clicking on the survey link below.  The survey will be open until Wednesday, October 2, 2019.
