Steven Hartman, President of the Commack Board of Education, received a New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA) Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his continued participation in school board training and education. This is the most prestigious award a school board member can receive from NYSSBA, requiring the accumulation of 500 hours attending member academies, law conferences, seminars, and workshops regarding the intricacies of school board governance and fiscal oversight.

Mr. Hartman was presented with the award at the October 7 school board meeting by Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Donald James. “Mr. Hartman dedicates a tremendous amount of time to this District, whether it’s reading the volumes of information, attending school events and meetings, sharing his professional expertise in engineering with our students, and doing all he can do for our students and community,” stated Dr. James. “During this state-wide School Board Recognition Week, please take a moment to honor all of our board members for their commitment to Commack and its children.”
