Board President, Steven Hartman, was honored with a Proclamation at the May BOE meeting in recognition of his many years of dedicated service and tireless efforts to advocate for the residents and students of the Commack School District and the community.
"WHEREAS: STEVEN HARTMAN has served on the Commack Board of Education for six (6) years and has been serving as the President for the past four (4) years. Further, he has participated in numerous school based community focus groups whose mission relates to the advocacy and support of all students; and he is a member of the District wide Safety and Security Committee, a mentor to high school students involved in the Science Research Program; he attends the Career days in both the Middle School and High School. He is currently the chairperson of the Legislative Advocacy committee. In addition, he was the recipient of the 2016 Nassau – Suffolk School Board Assoc. Outstanding School Board Award. He has received the SCOPE Outstanding Community Service Award and the SCOPE Outstanding School Board Member Award."
