CHS Hosts Second Annual Commack Day

CHS students celebrated Commack Day with an array of fun activities.
The second annual event included a Suffolk County Police Department helicopter landing adjacent to the school and first responders from the Commack Volunteer Fire Department and Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps and their equipment.
Sweetbriar Nature Center had assorted birds on hand to view.
Meanwhile, inside the South Gym, a dunk team from the Miami Heat leapt over students and slammed basketballs through the hoops.
Teachers volunteered to be slammed by whipped-cream pies.
Distinguished alumni Logan Tobais ’18, Mehtaab Sawhney ’16, Sarah Waxberg ’14 and Jenna DeAngelis ’08 spoke on a career panel.
Tobias is the currently youngest commander of a U.S. Coast Guard cutter. Sawhney is a Columbia University mathematics professor. Waxberg is a content creator and promoter for Live Nation. And DeAngelis is a CBS New York reporter.
And, of course, there were plenty of treats, including pretzels and ices.
