Brady C., Amelia B. Selected Athletes of Year at Spring Varsity Awards

The Varsity Spring Awards event is in the books!
Seniors Brady C. (football/wrestling/track) and Amelia B. (lacrosse/soccer) were selected the athletes of the year on Tuesday night at CHS.
Meanwhile, for the spring, Melissa Read (girls lacrosse) was named coach of the season, James P. (lacrosse) was named boys athlete of the season and Liliana P. (lacrosse) was named girls athlete of the season.
Amelia (Florida State), Liliana (Stony Brook) and James (Richmond) all have signed to play college lacrosse next academic year.
Athletic director Pat Friel also presented gold keys to 18 three-sport athletes who qualified for the award by playing in at least eight of nine athletic seasons from their sophomore year onward.
The spring marked another strong athletic season for the Cougars. Girls badminton won a county title, and joined softball and girls lacrosse in winning league championships. Softball had an unbeaten regular season, while girls lacrosse earned its first-ever No. 1 playoff seed. And the Cougarettes kickline team was honored for winning two national titles in Florida.
Friel also recognized retiring coaches Tracie Morenberg and Anthony Barone.
