The New York City Marathon will be getting some amazing runners from Commack in future years.

Burr held its mini-marathon on Monday, as students aimed to challenge themselves in a loop around the school's perimeter.

The CHS varsity cross country teams took a break from their own training to pitch in by leading classes through the course and handing out medals as the intermediate students crossed the finish line.

Staff as well as some family members also navigated the course.

The annual mini-marathon is held in memory of Shana Kay. The Shana Kay Memorial Foundation is dedicated to preserving her memory and supporting the district through projects and scholarships.
