Kelly Nevin Joins District as Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations

Commack Schools will remain in sound fiscal hands with the appointment of Kelly Nevin to the role of assistant superintendent for business and operations beginning in January.
Nevin was approved by the Board of Education on Thursday evening.
She succeeds Laura Newman, who is retiring as associate superintendent for business and operations after nearly 20 years with Commack Schools.
“I am thrilled to join a leadership team that shares my passion for student success and the overall student experience,” Nevin said. “I look forward to fostering strong partnerships with district administration, the Board of Education and the Commack community. During my time at Commack, I hope to build upon the district’s innovative spirit and contribute to the continued excellence that defines Commack Schools.”
Nevin has served with increasing responsibility in the Longwood School District since 2012.
Since 2020, she managed the district’s more than $300 million budget as business manager, safeguarding the district’s financial integrity and ensuring compliance with state and federal reporting regulations.
She previously served as payroll supervisor and principal account clerk with Longwood.
Nevin earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from St. Mary’s College of California and an MBA from the College of Saint Rose.
“After a comprehensive search process, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Kelly Nevin as our next assistant superintendent for business and operations,” assistant superintendent for human resources Scott Oshrin said. “She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her new leadership position. We are excited to welcome her to the Commack family.”
