Burr fourth graders in the Challenge and Discovery program learned about the physics of toys on Tuesday afternoon

During a visit from a representative from Riverhead's Long Island Science Center, the students initially discussed properties of physics, including why objects of differing masses fall at the same rate (unless there's air friction). They also learned about potential energy.

They then applied that knowledge to toys, launching objects into the air by turning the potential energy into kinetic energy.
