Sawmill Students Celebrate Baseball Opening Day with Charity Drive

Students at Sawmill combined their love of baseball with community service recently. The Sawmill Student Council organized a snack drive to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Family Room at Stony Brook Hospital. The collection ran from Monday through Wednesday.
The student council asked peers to bring in individually wrapped nonperishable snacks. Requested items included popular treats like Goldfish, cheese crackers, pretzels and Oreos. These collected goods were sent directly to the hospital to support visiting families.
Participants were invited to wear their favorite team hats on Wednesday morning to celebrate both the conclusion of the event and Major League Baseball Opening Night. The initiative offered the school community a structured way to show team spirit while supporting a vital charitable cause.
