Commack High School Host Inaugural “Commack Law Day”

Commack High School hosted their inaugural “Commack Law Day” mock trial tournament on Tuesday. Twelve teams from surrounding school districts traveled to Commack to participate and compete in the event.
Two teams represented CHS alongside visiting students from East Islip, Northport, Plainview-Old Bethpage, Ward Melville and East Hampton. The groups presented their cases in various classrooms and the school courtroom during three preliminary rounds. Students then advanced to semifinal matches following a lunch break.
The culminating finals were held in the Little Theatre Tuesday afternoon. Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney and Suffolk County Chief Assistant District Attorney Allen L. Bode served as judges for the final round of the competition alongside a panel of other guests. The finals saw Northport defeating Plainview-Old Bethpage for the inaugural title.
“We were all very impressed, and you all have bright futures ahead of you,” Tierney told the students.
