Senior Kyla G. Receives Principal Leadership Scholarship
Commack High School senior Kyla G. received the Principal Leadership Scholarship at the Suffolk County High School Principals Association Awards Ceremony on Tuesday. She was recognized for her extraordinary dedication to her peers and the broader community. “Kyla is not simply a leader in name, she is a leader in action,” said Principal Carrie Lipenholtz.
As class president and the first ex officio student member of the Board of Education, Kyla serves as a vital bridge between the administration and students. She also organized the Compassion Without Borders conference at CHS and volunteers extensively outside of school hours.
“Between her coursework, leadership responsibilities and her service commitments, I am not entirely convinced that she actually sleeps,” Lipenholtz said. The district congratulates Kyla on this well deserved honor and her upcoming journey to the University of Michigan.
