Commack School District paid tribute to outgoing Board of Education ex-officio member Kyla Gruber at Thursday evening’s Board of Education meeting.

“This year has been truly special,” Dr. Jordan Cox said. “not only because you made history as the district’s first ex-officio board member, but on the impact you've had on our school community.”

This year, Kyla, a CHS senior, had the opportunity to travel around the district to each school to hear from Commack students, and listen to them share their experiences, to help inform the board and shape their vision for the future of Commack Schools.

Thank you Kyla for the dedication that you’ve shown through this historic first year of our ex-officio position, and we wish you the best of luck at the University of Michigan and in the future!
