National Science League

Grade: 3, 4 & 5

Advisors: Ms. Persichilli & Ms. Turner

We will begin meeting at the end of February and it runs for 6 weeks.

Time: meets weekly during your recreation time 


National Science League is a club in which students practice the scientific process by participating in various science labs. Students then use their scientific knowledge to compete nationally by taking part in the National Science League Contest. The contest for grade 3 and 4 consists of 35 multiple choice questions and for grade 5, 40 questions. The multiple choice questions which comprise each contest are based on factual knowledge as well as students’ understanding of scientific processes. The students have a total of 35 minutes to complete the test. Try-outs for the team typically take place in February. Third, fourth, and fifth grade students who qualify, will meet on a weekly basis and perform scientific investigations. These investigations will help the students prepare for the national competition in April. Ms. Persichilli and Ms. Turner will meet with the students during rec time in the science lab to facilitate these scientific explorations.  Check out Ms. Persichilli’s website for more specific information.
