Division 1 Track

Track & Field 2021 Suffolk County Division 1 Champions

Our Boys and Girls Track teams competed in the Suffolk County Division 1 Track & Field Championship meets. Both teams had multiple All-Division Athletes, placing among the top 6 athletes in their respective events. Additionally, Commack had multiple Division Champions!
 
At the girl's meet, junior Allison S. was crowned the 2021 Champion in the Pentathlon event by taking 1st place in 3 out of the 5 events! Additionally, senior Jenna T. became Division 1 Champion in the 400 meter hurdles event with a time of 1:04.07. Finally, sophomore Julie T.was named the Division 1 Shot Put Champion with a throw of 36 ft 5 in.
 
At the boy's meet, hosted at Commack High School, junior Andrew R. took home the Division 1 Championship in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:00.04. Finally, senior Jake S. was crowned Division 1 Shot Put Champion with a winning throw of 50 ft 10 in!

USTA Champions 2021

Long Island USTA Champions!!

Simply The Best!! Emily T. and Kady T. won the USTA Long Island HS Doubles Tennis Championship! They took down the #1 team in Nassau (Port Washington) and beat them 6-1 6-0 in the Finals.

Boys Spring Track League 2 Champions!

The boys spring track team clinched the League 2 Championship  with a victory over Bay Shore HS and ended their regular season undefeated (6-0). Congratulations!!!!

Fall 2021 Athletic Tryout Schedule

Fall 2021 Varsity and JV High School Athletic tryouts will begin August 23, 2021 at 7 am.  
Commack Middle School Fall 2021 Athletic tryouts will begin September 9th at 2:45 pm.
Times and locations details will be posted here.
Please plan on CHS try-outs taking place 7-10 am and 5-8 pm each day for the first week. 
Final Forms medical clearance and tryout registration information will be e-mailed on July 23, 2021. 

New Athletic Spectator Rules - May 20, 2021

Starting today 5/20 the two spectator per athlete rule at OUTDOOR HOME CONTESTS ONLY will be lifted for Commack Athletic contests at both CHS and CMS. Indoor contests will continue to have two spectators per athlete for home fans only. Please be reminded all spectators and staff still need to wear masks and socially distance on school grounds.

Undefeated Sister Duo Win Suffolk County Championship!

Suffolk County CHAMPIONS! Congratulations to doubles tennis champions, sisters Emily T. & Kady T. , who did not lose a game the entire tournament! Way to go!

Boys Varsity Soccer Team Wins Championship!

Congratulations to our Boys Varsity Soccer Team on winning the Suffolk AA Championship 2-1 over Newfield! Great season!!

COVID Testing No Longer Required

In accordance with Executive Director Steve Bellone and the SCDOH, the Commack School District will no longer be requiring COVID testing for high risk sports. All athletes in all sports are asked to continue to be diligent in following all COVID protocols directed to them by their coaches.  
League 1 Varsity Volleyball

Girls Volleyball Team League 1 Champions!

For the fourth season in a row, Commack's Girls Varsity Volleyball Team won the League 1 title! That's an amazing accomplishment! 
Congratulations to all the ladies and to Coach Barone.  The team beat Longwood in the quarter finals.

Swimming Championships/Olympic Trials!

Congrats to Denise P. on her first place wins in both the 200 yard individual medley with an All American Consideration time of 2:03.33 and the 100 Breaststroke with an Automatic All American time 1:01.61 improving her county record from 2019. Denise also won the Most Outstanding Competitor Award presented by the LISOA. Denise qualified for the Olympic Trials for the 200m breaststroke.  GOOD LUCK!
Kristina R. swam a season best time as the third leg of the 200 Freestyle relay, with combined team of Northport/Commack won the 200 Medley relay and finished second in the 400 Freestyle relay, both in state qualifying times. Northport/Commack finished 5th overall out of 28 teams.

Update Guidance for High School Sports

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone released updated guidance for high school sports from the Suffolk County Department of Health Services. Based on the decreasing positivity rate for COVID-19 in Suffolk County, the increasing rate of vaccination, and the eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine having been expanded to those 16 years of age and over, as well as the ability to practice and play outdoors, mandatory testing for high-risk sports is no longer required. Click here for the press release.

Girls XC Division Championships

Congratulations to Mackenzie N. and Alexandra S. for competing in the Girls Division 1 Championship Race at Sunken Meadow!  Both girls ran the 2.5 mile course. Mackenzie came in 10th place with a time of 17:06 and Alexandra came in 27th place with a time of 18:20.

Boys Bowling Champions!

Congratulations to the Commack Boys Bowling Team for winning the Large School Championship.  They averaged 214 pins per bowler over four games.  Great bowling guys!

Guidance for Resumption of High-Risk Sports & Activities

The Commack School District is excited to announce that our student athletes at Commack High School will be able to play!  To ensure that our student athletes are safe, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Section XI Executive Director Tom Combs announced a comprehensive safety plan which requires all athletes competing in high-risk sports to complete weekly COVID-19 testing. Girls Bowling

The ladies are currently undefeated, 4-0.  We have won 26 consecutive matches, and our matches are livestreamed on the Commack website.   

Michael - Suffolk's Outstanding Swimmer!

Commack's Michael J. named most outstanding swimmer at Suffolk boys championships! Michael won the 100 yard individual medley and the 100 yard breaststroke. Click here for the Newsday article.

Girls Fencing

Commack girl fencing had an amazing come from behind victory to beat Half Hallow Hills 14-13 on January 27!  The ladies are 4-1 so far this season. #GoCougars

Boys Bowling

Commack's Boys Bowling is currently 8-0. The team average per bowler is 198 pins per game. We are looking to compete for a league title!
