The Physical Education program at Wood Park provides students with a friendly, safe and positive environment where the goal is to develop healthy bodies, minds and promoting lifelong physical activity.
Throughout the year, students are encouraged to keep active in and out of school with some events including our walk and bike to school months, Jump Rope for Heart, the bike rodeo and field day.
Units on cooperation and the importance of working together to achieve a common goal are learned through a variety of games played throughout the year.
As a special surprise, each January the gym is transformed into a different theme filled with an array of activities not normally played in our regular Physical Education curriculum. Past themes include NYC, movieland, under the sea, the circus and even our very own Commack community.
It is important that students are properly dressed for Physical Education in comfortable clothing, sneakers with laces and no jewelry.
